Privacy policy
Effective October 29, 2026
Billiam, LLC ("Billiam," "we," or "us") is a Minnesota software development and technology services firm. This policy explains how we handle personal information through billiam.co, our business communications, and services that link to this policy.
Information we receive
- Contact and business information: your name, email address, phone number, company, role, and information you send when requesting a proposal, subscribing, or discussing a project.
- Project and account information: requirements, files, messages, feedback, account details, and access permissions you or your organization provide so we can deliver services.
- Communications: email and WhatsApp messages you exchange with us, including sender identifiers, profile information supplied by the messaging service, attachments, timestamps, and delivery status.
- Billing information: invoices, billing contact details, payment status, and transaction records. When payment is handled by a payment processor such as Stripe, that processor handles the payment credentials under its own privacy policy.
- Technical information: IP address, browser and device information, request logs, and security or error information generated when you use our website or services.
Please share only the information needed for your request. Do not send passwords, payment-card details, or sensitive personal records through ordinary contact forms or chat.
How we use information
We use information to respond to inquiries; prepare proposals; develop, maintain, and support software; administer accounts and projects; process invoices; send requested updates; protect systems; investigate problems; and meet legal and recordkeeping obligations. Newsletter recipients can unsubscribe using the link in an email or by contacting us.
Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we process information to perform a contract or take steps you request before a contract, for legitimate business interests such as providing and securing our services, to comply with legal obligations, or with consent where required.
Service providers and sharing
We share information as needed with providers that support hosting, storage, email, messaging, payments, project collaboration, and software development. Depending on the service or project, this may include AI-assisted tools that process submitted content to provide a requested feature. Client agreements and project instructions can set additional requirements for these tools.
We may also share information with authorized collaborators working on your project, when you direct us to connect another service, when required by law, to protect rights and security, or as part of a business transfer subject to applicable confidentiality and privacy obligations. We do not sell or rent personal information.
WhatsApp and third-party services
If you contact a Billiam business account on WhatsApp, we and our messaging infrastructure process the messages sent to that account and related metadata so we can receive, respond to, and retain the conversation. Connecting with our business account does not give us access to your unrelated personal chats. WhatsApp and Meta also process information under their own terms and privacy policies.
Third-party websites, payment services, and integrations have their own privacy practices. This policy does not replace those policies.
Client-controlled data
When we develop or operate software for a client, we may handle personal information on that client's behalf under its instructions and our agreement. The client determines the purpose of that processing. Requests concerning information in a client-operated service should generally go to that client; we assist as required by our agreement and applicable law. A separately branded product may publish its own policy.
Cookies and local storage
Our website and connected services may use cookies or browser storage for sign-in, security, saved preferences, and features you request. Infrastructure providers may also process technical request information. You can manage cookies and stored site data in your browser; disabling them may affect some features. Any optional tracking that requires consent is subject to the applicable consent requirements.
Retention, security, and international processing
Retention depends on the purpose and type of information, the project agreement, and legal requirements. Records may need to remain available for ongoing services, accounting, disputes, or security. Deletion from active systems may not immediately remove copies held in backups or records we must retain.
We use administrative and technical safeguards appropriate to our services, but no storage or transmission method is completely secure. Our providers and collaborators may process information in the United States and other countries, where privacy laws may differ. Where required, transfers are subject to applicable legal safeguards.
Your choices and requests
Contact kevin@billiam.co to request access, correction, or deletion of your personal information, including information associated with a Billiam app or messaging conversation. Please identify the service and the email address or phone number you used, without sending sensitive identity documents unless we arrange a secure method. We may need to verify your identity and authority before acting.
Depending on where you live and the law that applies, you may also have rights to a copy of your data, to restrict or object to processing, withdraw consent, appeal a decision on a request, or complain to a privacy regulator. Some requests are subject to legal exceptions. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing already lawfully performed. To stop optional WhatsApp communications, tell us in the conversation or contact us by email.
Children
Our services are intended for business customers and adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Contact us if you believe a child has provided information so we can address it.
Updates and contact
We may update this policy as our services change. The effective date above identifies the current version; we provide additional notice when required by law.
